On our way through southern Colorado we stayed at a motel in Monte Vista. It has a drive in movie as part of the motel. It has two screens that shows two different movies at once. You can either park there or see the movies from your room.
The staff was extremely friendly and the motel was nice. My daughter and I enjoyed our time together watching the movies. We were able to share memories of when she was little and our family would go to the one in Durango.
I think this will be a fun adventure this summer with the rest of the family. It was more exciting then just sitting in a motel room watching television.

Beautiful Colorado! This is an area I have called home for the last ten plus years. There are so many places you can go and enjoy nature without interruption of the everyday busy life. Some places you can get to in minutes and others you can get to in hours. There are plenty of roads to drive around on and even more places to take hikes. There might not be a restaurant on every corner but who needs that when you can pack a lunch and sit with these views.
The wildlife is amazing. Some people might go their whole life without seeing a bear in the forest. I have seen numerous ones on my hikes. Not to mention elk, deer, coyotes, mountain lions, all kinds of feathered friends and even a porcupine. It seems every time I go on a hike I come across something different.
Then there is the fishing. I love fishing out of the little streams. The water is cold and clear. The fish don't get extremely big but they taste good. Sometimes it is a challenge to hide in the bushes so they can't see me so they will bite. My favorite thing to do is to cook them over an open fire.
Living in Colorado has been a joy. I can always find something fun and relaxing to do. I have such an inner peace when I am in the mountains. This is a place where my heart belongs!
